Apple Device Trade-In. How do I trade-in my Apple Device?

Let’s face it, who doesn’t love a little extra cash in their pocket? Or maybe you’re just ready to upgrade your Apple products. Trading your device in can help break the cost of buying a new one. As an Apple Authorized Service Provider and Reseller, The Orchard is allowed to buy back and resell any eligible Apple device that is in good working condition. All Orchard certified pre-owned devices are thoroughly examined and repaired (if needed) by our technicians who are certified and trained by Apple. So the real question is, how do I trade in my Apple device? To save you some time, we have created a checklist of how to determine if your device is eligible for trade-in and steps that you need to take before bringing it to one of our stores.

  1. Is your Apple Device eligible for trade-in? The best way to determine eligibility is to bring your Apple device to one of our stores. Our technicians will do a thorough evaluation on the device and make an instant offer. As new products are released, Apple will classify older models as vintage. This means that your device will no longer be eligible for the latest software updates. Because of this, we cannot provide a trade-in value for those products. However, there are times when we can offer a store credit in exchange for that device. If your device isn’t eligible for trade-in, we can recycle it for free, no matter the condition or model.

  2. Do you have any physical damage? If your screen is cracked, it won’t turn on, or if you are experiencing any other technical issues that won’t allow your device to function as it should, we cannot guarantee a value for it. There are certain circumstances where we can buy it back for a lower cost, but this depends on the actual condition of your device.

  3. Is your device paid off? In order to trade-in any Apple product, it must be completely paid off before we can give you a quote. This applies to iPhones that were purchased on a payment plan through your cellular provider or any other Apple device that was financed upon purchase.

  4. Have you checked the trade-in estimate through Apple? As an Apple Authorized Service Provider and Reseller, we honor Apple’s trade-in value and standards. You can get an estimated trade-in value for your device by going to www.apple.com/shop/trade-in.com. Apple’s value range also depends on the condition of your device. In order to get an exact quote, you must bring your Apple product to one of our stores so a technician can diagnose it.

  5. Did you remove your personal information? Before bringing your device to our store for trade-in, please make sure that you have backed up and transferred your information to your new/current iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch. Once that is complete, your next steps are to sign out of your iCloud account and erase all contents and settings. For a detailed description on how to restore your device, choose from one of the following options: iPhone or iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch.

Trading in your Apple device is quick and easy! Whether that be for cash or one of our Orchard Certified Preowned products, we are here to help! As a reminder, for an exact trade-in quote, you must bring your device to one of our stores for diagnosis. No appointment needed! If you have any questions regarding our trade-in policy, please call (866) 920-9075 to speak to one of our technicians.
